Have you ever thought of making homemade marijuana fertilizer? It’s super easy and will save you money while increasing yields. It’s a win-win for any cannabis grower. In this article, we’ll discuss the benefits of homemade fertilizer and how you can make your very own in your kitchen. The homemade fertilizer for marijuana plants can be used in many growing environments from SOG to LST.

The Benefits of Homemade Fertilizer

Homemade marijuana fertilizer contains the three most important macronutrients for your plants. Nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium (also known as MPK) provide your plants with everything they need to grow healthy and strong. Micronutrients (sometimes referred to as trace elements) are metals and minerals that plants need in minimal quantities. Some of these are calcium, magnesium, copper, iron, zinc, manganese, cobalt, iodine, selenium, and molybdenum. These are also the nutrients we use to grow the best marijuana clones in California.

Homemade, natural, or organic fertilizers are easy to make yourself by combining food waste, organic matter, wood ash, brewer’s yeast, eggshells, and more you can recharge your soil after every harvest. You are not providing your plants with enough nutrients by simply replanting new cannabis seeds or feminized clones in old soil.

Steps to Making Homemade Fertilizer for Marijuana Plants

Step 1:

Get your hands on some plastic storage bins No smaller than 18 gallons with lids. The first button will be used to place the organic matter in and the second burn will catch the liquid that leeches out of the first. This nutrient filled liquid, also called compost tea, is used as a fertilizer in the garden.

Step 2:

Place one button on a surface, and drill holes along all four sides close to the lid. Turn the container on its side and drill holes on the bottom of the same container position the bin outside. Place one container on top of the other and find a spot for it outside. If you live in a cold climate, consider placing the bin inside. When temperatures go below freezing the fermentation process would stop and continue once temperatures reach above freezing.

Step 3:

Start filling your compost bin with organic produce. Some of the items you can add to your compost bin include:

  • Leaves

  • Freedom vegetable peels

  • Rinsed eggshells

  • Paper egg cartons

  • Coffee grounds

  • Coffee filters

  • Teabags

  • Straited paper

  • Paper napkins

  • Paper towels

  • Toilet paper rolls

  • Grass clippings

It’s important to remember that whatever you add to your compost bin should be chopped fairly small. This increases the rate of decomposition and creating your garden gold. If you notice the containers smell, you can add shredded leaves, shredded newspaper, and sawdust.

Step 4:

After around three months, depending on your climate, the compost should be ready for use. Get yourself a compost sifter unplanned decomposed through it. Large pieces can go back into the compost bin for the next harvest while the finished compost can be stored in another container or immediately spread into your garden.

Easy Homemade Marijuana Fertilizer

If the above steps sound like too much effort it’s easy to make marijuana compost following some examples below:

A good fertilizer for the growth phase of your marijuana plants is coffee grounds containing 2% nitrogen. Target coffee grounds in one liter of water and let the mixture set foot up to 24 hours. Once you’re ready to use it pour the mother water (the water without the coffee grounds) straight into the soil. Fertiliser made from coffee grounds may become too acidic so it’s important to keep an eye on your pH levels.

To get a good dose of potassium:

1. Consider making banana tea.

2. Boil three to five banana peels in one liter of water, adding two tablespoons of molasses, honey or sugar cane.

3. Let the mixture cool down and mix it with another two liters of water.

4. Shake it up and pour directly into the soil for your marijuana plants.
