Shipped Statewide to Your Door

Massachusetts was one of the earliest East Coast states to embrace legal cannabis, with voters approving recreational use back in November 2016 and retail sales launching in 2018. Nearly a decade later, the state offers one of the more generous home cultivation allowances on the East Coast.
Is It Legal to Grow Cannabis Clones in Massachusetts?
Yes. Adults 21 and older may legally cultivate up to 6 cannabis plants per person, with a household maximum of 12 plants when two or more adults 21+ live there. Registered medical patients can grow even more — up to 12 flowering and 12 vegetative plants for personal medical use.
Plants must be grown out of public view, in a locked, enclosed space. If you rent, check your lease first — landlords in Massachusetts can legally prohibit cannabis cultivation on their property. Home possession is capped at 10 ounces, with anything over 1 ounce required to be kept locked up.
In April 2026, Governor Healey signed the "Act Modernizing the Commonwealth's Cannabis Laws," doubling the public possession limit from 1 ounce to 2 ounces and restructuring the state's Cannabis Control Commission. Worth noting: a repeal initiative has been certified for the November 2026 ballot that would eliminate adult-use retail sales and home cultivation while preserving a limited medical program — though recent polling shows roughly 63% of voters opposed, and existing law remains fully in effect unless that changes.
This page is for informational purposes only and is not legal advice. Cannabis laws change, and enforcement can vary. Please confirm current rules with the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission before growing.

Massachusetts experiences a full New England four-season climate, which makes indoor cultivation the more predictable route for consistent, year-round yields. Outdoor growing is workable during the warmer months, but the state's humid summers call for good airflow and mold prevention, especially as flowering approaches in early fall. Given the generous 6-to-12-plant household allowance, many Massachusetts growers stagger their plantings to keep a steady harvest rotation going indoors.
Boston
Boston's coastal New England climate brings humid summers and cold winters, making indoor cultivation the more reliable choice for consistent results year-round. We ship clones to Boston growers and recommend mold-resistant genetics suited to the region's summer humidity.
Worcester
Worcester's inland location sees slightly less humidity than the coast but still experiences the full range of New England seasons, favoring indoor setups for predictable harvests. We ship clones to Worcester growers and recommend hardy strains adaptable to central Massachusetts's variable weather.
Springfield
Springfield sits in the Pioneer Valley, with warmer summer days than much of the state but still cold winters that limit the outdoor season. We ship clones to Springfield growers and recommend strains suited to a shorter, warm-summer outdoor window if growing outside.
Cambridge
Cambridge shares Boston's coastal climate and urban density, where indoor and balcony growing tend to be the most practical options for most home cultivators. We ship clones to Cambridge growers and recommend compact strains well-suited to smaller indoor setups.
Adults 21 and older can grow up to 6 plants per person, with a household maximum of 12 plants when two or more adults live there. Medical patients can grow up to 24 plants total (12 flowering, 12 vegetative).
A repeal initiative is on the November 2026 ballot that would eliminate home cultivation and retail sales, but current law remains unchanged unless voters approve it, and polling shows most voters oppose the repeal.
Yes. Massachusetts law explicitly allows landlords to prohibit cannabis cultivation on rental property, so check your lease before planting.
Up to 10 ounces total at your residence, with anything over 1 ounce required to be stored in a locked location.
