Please check your eligibility before ordering. Nevada legalized recreational cannabis in 2016, but home cultivation comes with a distance requirement that catches a lot of people off guard. Unlike most legal states, Nevada only allows home growing if you live more than 25 miles from the nearest licensed dispensary — and because Nevada's dispensary network is concentrated in and around Las Vegas and Reno, this rule makes home cultivation illegal for the large majority of the state's population. Is It Legal to Grow Cannabis Clones in Nevada?

Nevada voters passed Question 2 in November 2016, legalizing recreational cannabis for adults 21 and older, with retail sales beginning in 2017. Nevada's home cultivation law is more restrictive than most other legal states:

The 25-mile rule. Adults may only cultivate cannabis at home if there is no state-licensed retail cannabis store within 25 miles of their residence. This applies to recreational users and medical patients alike — unlike some states, Nevada doesn't give medical patients a broader allowance on this point. In practice, this rule excludes nearly all of Clark County (Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas) and Washoe County (Reno, Sparks), since licensed dispensaries are widely available in both metro areas. Home cultivation is realistically only an option in Nevada's more rural counties.

Plant limits, if you qualify. Eligible growers may cultivate up to 6 plants per person, with a household maximum of 12 plants regardless of how many adults live there.

Property requirements. The grower must own the property where the plants are grown, or have explicit written permission from the property owner — this matters for renters, who need landlord sign-off even if they otherwise qualify under the 25-mile rule.

Enclosed and secure. Plants must be grown in a locked, enclosed space (closet, room, greenhouse, etc.) that isn't visible from any public space.

Penalties for exceeding limits or growing without eligibility. A first violation of the home-grow rules is a misdemeanor with a fine of up to $600, escalating with repeat violations to a gross misdemeanor and eventually a category E felony. Growing more than 12 plants is treated as felony-level unauthorized cultivation.
