Shipped Statewide to Your Door

New Mexico legalized recreational cannabis when Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham signed the Cannabis Regulation Act (HB 2) in April 2021, with home cultivation and possession rights taking effect immediately that June — even before licensed retail sales launched in April 2022.
Is It Legal to Grow Cannabis Clones in New Mexico?
Yes. Adults 21 and older may legally cultivate up to 6 mature plants and 6 immature plants per person, no medical card or registration required — just a valid state ID showing you're 21 or older. Where multiple adults share a household, the total is capped at 12 mature plants, though immature plant counts can scale with each additional grower.
Plants must be grown in a private, secure area that isn't visible to the general public. Unlike many states, New Mexico doesn't cap how much cannabis you can possess at home by weight, as long as it's stored out of public view — home cultivation itself is what's capped by the plant limits above, not overall possession at your residence.
This page is for informational purposes only and is not legal advice. Cannabis laws change, and enforcement can vary. Please confirm current rules with the New Mexico Cannabis Control Division before growing.

New Mexico's high desert climate brings intense sun and low humidity, which can be a real asset for outdoor growers who manage watering carefully — the dry air naturally reduces mold and mildew risk compared to more humid states. Temperature swings between day and night can be significant, especially at higher elevations like Santa Fe, so consider cold-tolerant genetics or season timing if growing outdoors. Indoor growers should focus on humidity control in the other direction — New Mexico's dry air can stress plants if humidity drops too low during flowering.
Albuquerque
Albuquerque's high desert climate brings intense sun, low humidity, and significant day-to-night temperature swings, especially in spring and fall. We ship clones to Albuquerque growers and recommend heat-tolerant genetics suited to the dry Rio Grande valley climate.
Santa Fe
Santa Fe's higher elevation brings cooler temperatures and a shorter growing season than lower parts of the state, with real risk of early and late frosts. We ship clones to Santa Fe growers and recommend faster-flowering strains suited to the shorter mountain growing season.
Las Cruces
Las Cruces sits in the warmer southern part of the state, with a longer growing season and more consistent heat than northern New Mexico. We ship clones to Las Cruces growers and recommend heat-tolerant strains that thrive in the Mesilla Valley's warm climate.
Roswell
Roswell's southeastern location brings hot, dry summers typical of the Chihuahuan Desert region, well-suited to outdoor cultivation with proper irrigation. We ship clones to Roswell growers and recommend drought-tolerant genetics suited to arid growing conditions.
Adults 21 and older can grow up to 6 mature plants and 6 immature plants per person, with a household cap of 12 mature plants when multiple adults grow together.
No. Any adult 21 or older can legally cultivate cannabis with just a valid state ID — no medical card or registration required.
No weight cap applies to cannabis stored at a private residence, as long as it's kept out of public view. Cultivation itself is limited by the plant count rules.
Yes, as long as plants are grown in a secure area not visible to the general public — the same rule applies whether you're growing indoors or outdoors.
