Is It Legal to Grow Cannabis Clones in Ohio?

Yes. Adults 21 and older may legally cultivate up to 6 plants per person, with a household maximum of 12 plants regardless of how many adults live there. Of your personal 6 plants, only 3 may be in the flowering stage at any given time — the other 3 must remain in the vegetative stage, a rule designed to keep total harvestable output in check.

Plants must be grown in a secure, enclosed space not visible to the public. Homegrown cannabis can't be sold, but Ohio law does allow gifting it to others as long as no money changes hands. Landlords retain the right to prohibit cultivation through lease terms, even where state law permits it.
