Is It Legal to Grow Cannabis Clones in Oregon?

Oregon voters legalized recreational cannabis in 2014 under Measure 91, with home cultivation becoming legal on July 1, 2015. Oregon's home grow rules are straightforward compared to many states:

• Home grow limit: Adults 21+ may grow up to 4 cannabis plants per household — this is a flat household limit, not a per-person limit, and it counts both mature and immature plants.
• No registration required: Unlike some states, Oregon does not require recreational home growers to register or obtain a permit for personal cultivation within the 4-plant limit.
• Medical patients: Registered medical marijuana cardholders (OMMP) may grow more — up to 6 mature plants per cardholder, up to a household cap, through a registered grow site.
• Out of public view: Plants must be grown somewhere not visible to the public, whether indoors or in a fenced/screened outdoor area.
• Local opt-outs affect retail, not home grow: Some Oregon cities and counties have opted out of allowing licensed retail cannabis businesses, but this does not affect your right to grow at home under state law.
• Landlord rules: Landlords can prohibit cannabis cultivation on rental property, so renters should check their lease.
